The resort’s signature restaurant draws its name from Phoenicia, paying tasteful homage to the Mediterranean’s first traders. Although their culture reached its zenith some 4,000 years ago, the Phoenicians had a remarkably advanced cuisine. Melding that ancient heritage with modern culinary arts, Fenicia invites diners to relax in a comfortably elegant setting and experience a gustatory tour of the Mediterranean—delectable, boldly flavored dishes from Sicily, Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Spain and Morocco. Fenicia’s seafood display, reminiscent of a fish market, is a constantly changing showcase of fresh-catch selections on ice (fresh lobster and mussels are also available), allowing guests in the mood for marine fare to inspect the options and select their main course. The restaurant’s service style is especially noteworthy. “Gureridon” is a central-European tradition that emphasizes “as you watch” tableside preparation. The result for each dish: memorable presentation, freshness and “immediacy.”

Second level; open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; informal dress; smoking and nonsmoking sections; air-conditioned interior and covered ocean-view terrace. This is the place for casual, open-all-day dining—seated in La Hacienda’s spacious, climate-controlled interior or on its fountain-bordered terrace with splendid views of the resort’s pool area and the Sea of Cortez. The bill of fare presents informal, yet refined, Mexican, American and international cookery with consistently healthful emphases on local seafood and produce.
